Young voters speak on the upcoming midterms

On November 8, 2022 Nebraskans will go to the polls and select a new governor. As the candidates get ready to run their campaigns young people could have a big impact on the election.


The Campus Vote Project said that in the 2020 election, Millennials and Generation Z voters made up the largest voter share.


Young political leaders are already looking toward the 2022 midterm elections. Justin Simmons, chair of the Buffalo County Young Democrats, said he believes in voting and educating yourself on the issues.


”I think that the main thing is to just get out and vote, make sure you are up to date on the issues and that you understand the issues,” Simmons said. “Listening to the town hall debates, the candidate forums. And understand what the candidates believe in, instead of what you might hear on the news or in an ad.”
